In India, Project Shunya helps tackle the issue of indoor air pollution in the less developed parts of the nation. Most of these problems come from the use of "Chullas" - the traditional stoves that uses solid fuels, which releases a lot of harmful pollutants when burnt. Especially in poorly ventilated housing, people living in these houses suffer from the impacts brought about by the pollutants.
Project Shunya distributes improved stoves with cleaner burning technologies to households in Shunya. They will make cooking more efficient as require less fuels to be burnt and also less time to cook, thus reducing the release of contaminants from the combustion .
Such initiatives starts small but if successful, it can be replicated and this technology could be shared and made available for people in other parts of the world that face similar problems, which then transforms this small initiative to something of huge impact.
