Indoor Pollution & Geography
Indoor pollution, just like most other pollution, is inherently geographical.
As seen from the National Burden of Diseases Estimates from WHO in 2012:
Most of the deaths come from the low or mid income countries. Only around 200-300k out of 4.3m deaths are from the higher income countries. This probably is caused by the lack of regulations, technologies, resources and awareness to maintain the indoor air qualities.
Even though this is the case, people living in more developed countries shouldn't totally ignore the problems of IAQ. Through education and the spread of awareness in the more developed countries, more efforts such as research, studies, campaigns and such can be valuable to help improve the quality of air in the places more affected by IAQ .
So, to conclude and to close off my blog, I would like to urge all of us to help spread the awareness about the importance of IAQ such that more people can be educated, and everyone in the world can live in a healthier, higher quality indoor environment.
